We purchased our building in the middle of Dundonald and founded Ashwood, opening our doors in December 2009. In those early days, we slept upstairs (in an area which is now the blanket-drying room) and during the day, our daughter, 5 months old, sat on the reception desk in her baby seat. Our team consisted of Rebecca and me, our first nurse, Claire and our beloved Norma, who was an Ashwood stalwart for 10 years, before she retired. The community did support us and our practice has grown, delivering exceptional veterinary care in the heart of Dundonald. Our team has grown too, over the years. Grown with new team members, yes, but also personal growth, as we have worked together with all the wonderful clients and pets who are now members of our Ashwood family. Such materials form part of these terms and conditions. - Membership fees will be collected automatically each month using the payment card securely stored on our system, normally on or around the last working day of the month. - Membership for each pet will renew automatically each year on the anniversary of the date that your pet joined Ashwood Pet Club. - Pet Club prices are reviewed annually, normally in July, and may increase to reflect inflation and the cost of providing the scheme. Any increase will be rounded to the nearest 50p or £1. We will notify you by email before the new price applies at your pet’s next renewal date. - Cats over 7.5kg and dogs over 60kg are eligible for XL Premium membership only. This reflects the additional parasite-control products required for pets above these weights. Basic and Ultimate Health memberships are not available for XL pets. - We reserve the right to charge an administration fee of £3 for any failed card payment. - After a failed card debit payment, your membership will be suspended, and your pet will temporarily stop receiving the associated benefits and discounts. We will re-present our payment request to your bank up to 3 more times on consecutive days. The joint becomes damaged as the bones grind together. Walking becomes very painful as arthritis progresses. The thigh muscles rapidly waste away through reduced use. There are many people offering cruciate surgery with many different methods. However, cruciate repair surgery requires a very careful and planned approach to get consistently good results, with great care taken in getting the detail of the surgery correct for each patient. In most, but not all, cases, we operate using a modified Rotating and Reducing Cranial Closing Wedge Ostectomy (sometimes referred to as a Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy, ‘TPLO’). Other terms used for OA are simply “arthritis” or “degenerative joint disease”. As in people, OA in dogs and cats can be very painful and severely limit your pet’s quality of life. Common symptoms include lameness, being less active, and less interest in playing and walks. There is no cure and reversing the disease process is unfortunately not possible. The joint becomes damaged as the kneecap rubs against the wrong side of its groove. Walking is usually non-painful at first, but becomes painful as arthritis progresses. The thigh muscles slowly waste away through reduced use. Patellar luxation correction surgery requires a very careful and planned approach to get consistently good results, with great care taken in getting the detail of the surgery correct for each patient. Where appropriate we may advise, and with your agreement, refer you and your pet to an appropriate centre for any in-depth investigation or treatment which is not available at our practice. Fees All fees are due for payment at the time of the consultation or when your pet is discharged after an in-house procedure. All fees, diet and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Fee levels are determined by the time spent on a case and according to the drugs, materials, consumables and diets used. Details of our fees are available on request and a detailed invoice is available for every consultation, procedure or transaction. Estimates can also be provided on request and will be offered for non-routine procedures. Pet Health Insurance We strongly support the principle of insuring your pet against unexpected illness or accidents. Please ask for details about insurance from any member of staff. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to settle your account with us and reclaim the fees from your Insurance Company. If we have agreed to make a direct insurance claim with your insurance company, please be aware that in the event of your insurance company failing to settle your account, responsibility for settling your account with us remains with you. We are happy to assist you in making a claim and endeavour to send off all completed insurance forms within 7 days of receipt. Please speak to us before cancelling or changing your insurance company. Methods of Payment We accept cash, bank transfer, credit or debit cards. We do not accept cheques or American Express. Estimates of Treatment Costs We will happily provide a written estimate as to the probable costs of a course of treatment. Please bear in mind that any estimate given can only be approximate – often a pet’s illness will not follow a conventional course. Settlement Terms Should an account not be settled at the time of treatment, any outstanding amounts will be invoiced to you the client. Should this invoice not be settled the account may incur additional administrative fees, which will be removed if the account is settled promptly. After due notice to you the client, overdue accounts will be referred to our Debt Collection Agency and further charges will be levied in respect of costs incurred in collecting the debt. Any credit card payment not honoured and any cash tendered that is found to be counterfeit will result in the original account being restored to the original sum. Case history records, x-rays and similar documents are the property of, and will be retained by us. Copies with a summary of the history will be passed, on request, to another veterinary surgeon taking over the case.
