The Orthopaedics service at Ashwood Vets is provided by Dr Patrick McKee BSc BVetMed MRCVS and Dr Niall Thompson MVB CertAVP(GSAS) PGCertVPS MRCVS.
Patrick and Niall have a wealth of experience between them in the management of orthopaedic cases. Cases usually start with a comprehensive consultation with Patrick or Niall.

Mylo, 1 year old, Shih Tzu cross
Bilateral femoral head and neck ostectomy. This procedure was performed to manage severe hip dysplasia, with the hips dislocating in and out of the socket causing profound weakness and pain.

“Our 18 month old Shih Tzu Mylo suddenly collapsed and was diagnosed with chronic hip dysplasia in both legs. This was a very frightening time but Niall was extremely informative and empathetic in explaining all the various options.
We decided that a Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy was the best course of action for Mylo. Three weeks later Mylo is now back on his paws and making a remarkable recovery.
